As many of you probably know as a landscape shooter (among other things) I love shooting panos. Only recently I saw the light and finally got myself a nodal rail for my tripod setup. The rail allows you to shift the pivot point from the base of your camera to the front of the lens. This eliminates objects shifting from frame to frame due to your view point changing as the front of the lens swings around while panning. Now, the back of the camera swings around so the view point stays the same from image to image making it a breeze to stitch together. I have several panoramas in my collection I will never process because they are impossible to stitch together due to this issue.
So the last couple of weeks I have taken a few panoramas using the rail. All I can say is I LOVE IT! Wish I got one years ago.
#5 is an example of an panorama that without a rail wouldn't stitch. I took the same pano in winter before the rail and the images will not stitch together.
