Hey guys, this is my first post here and would love to get some feedback on party/event photography! Here's a few of my shots that i took at a recent party. Excuse if i have posted this wrongly as well, i read the photo sharing rules so i think i'm allowed to post a max of 8. I've also thumbnailed it as the original is aprox 1920 x 1200.

These photos were taken on a 60D with 18-55 IS 3.5 - 5.6 kit lens with a nissin di622 mk II flash with a flash diffuser pointing straight at them. Sadly because there was no lighting, it was pitch black and we couldn't really bounce the flash anywhere. Would love to get feedback and would also love to ask if there's anyway to be able to see a subject in pitch black conditions through the view finder? I had a hard time taking good photos because it was impossible to see where they were and how it would look like and in the end, i resorted to just guessing their position and pointing and hoping for the best. This was also our (my mate and I) first 'gig' to start up our event photography project, so we have much to improve on.

TL;DR, would love feedback on these photos.

This kind of look is what I like from certain parties. The isolation, colors, and especially the subject's clothes and expressions really help make the picture too.

These are cool, but on most of them, you have no idea they're at a party since you don't see anything in the background. Try pushing you ISO way higher and drag your shutter to at least capture some of the ambient lighting.
