OK, I have a shoot coming up for a client in a little under a month and a photo I want to do goes like this:

The client will be outside with one of their paintings infront of them that includes fire. They'll be holding a paintbrush to the painting that will be lit on fire and the flames will trail up a portion of the painting and have it lit as well.

IIRC, my two ND's are 9 stop and 3 stop. I have an 800w/s dynalite pack and I'll probably be using a 22" Beauty dish. The only thing I'm concerned about is that the flames won't be bright enough to show up.

I was planning on trying rubber cement for the flames on the brush and painting. I have probably 3 weekends to prepare for this, so this weekend I'm having a friend stand in with a piece of cardboard and a paint brush and I'm going to be doing some dry runs to get the photo how I want it so I can show up and shoot it.

Am I on the right track here, or will I have issues with the fire not being bright enough? Any suggestions?

Previous photos I did for a portfolio shot. These were done at night though and shot with speedlights.

P.S. It is extremely hard to light a guitar on fire with lighter fluid.

My village called. I was told that they missed me.

Speedotron users, untie!

I think it's going to be difficult to get the flames to show up in any type of dramatic way. What you may be able to do is bring out the flames in PP after the fact.
