im looking to get a wireless shutter trigger for a canon 7d to shoot night time and long exposure shots, can anyone recommend any good ones

The aftermarket infrared Pearstone The much longer range radio-wave based Pearstone/Vello FreeWave For exposures over 30 seconds without using bulb, there are intervalvometer remotes for a bit more such as Pearstone's ShutterBoss

That's why proper wireless is loads better. True, but in most cases you can set the wireless for a 2 second delay, activate from partly in front of the camera, and then get out of the way. Obviously, if you always have to be well behind the camera for some reason, this won't work. Hugh
