I preordered a 5D MK3 from Amazon in the morning on March 2nd (the day it became available for preorder) and waited around for days while people that ordered from Adorama days after me received their cameras. I also placed an order with Amazon on March 17th for the 600 EX-RT flash. I figured I would give Adorama a shot and ordered the flash with them last night. Well, less than 24 hours later and Adorama has already shipped it and Amazon is still showing not yet released. I just wanted to give some praise to Adorama. I still think Amazon and their Prime service is great but from here on out, when it comes to preorders, Adorama is getting all my camera equipment orders. Thanks for your time. As you were.

I don't know for certain, but I think the problem with Amazon meeting the pre-orders is that they are a secondary e-commerce channel for many photo suppliers, including Adorama. And, if I were Adorama, receiving a limited supply of product, I'd be more interested in filling my pre-orders than using the scarce supply to fill Amazon pre-orders where I get no customer service benefit and maybe even a lower profit margin.

About the only photo equipment or supplies I buy through Amazon is stuff I can't find on Adorama's site or where there is not a direct reseller source.
