They shared it on their Facebook yesterday and today with a new install video. These will hide smudges from your face and keep everything from getting scratched. If you already scratched yours, they fill them in too.

5D MK III is using tempered glass on LCD, pretty much impossible to scratch.

But how will people protect their screens from the nasty smudges from their oily faces? Those are bound to depreciate the value of the camera body, for sure!

So, wipe it off . . . Haven't needed a "screen protector" since I got the D60 (not the 60D) in 2003.

Yes, I wasn't being serious :D Just making light of the fact that some people feel the need to protect their screens from bodily excretions. Wait... that sounds bad now...

Sand or dust will scratch it easy. Everyone has their personal preference, some like it naked, some like it protected

Really, never was a problem with 7D that uses same type of glass, have it for 3 years, not a thing.
People religiously buy useless screen protectors for Gorilla Glass equipped gadgets like Droid X, Asus Transformer. Canon is using similar scratch resistant glass.
Are you affiliated in any way with the vendor, sorry out of your 10 posts 8 are about XO screen protectors, mod might want to look into that, I guess?

I will wait until I scratch the screen, then get a protector that will hide the scratch.

To clear all the doubt up all that "scratch less" glass is always able to be scratched here is a link ( http://www.slashgear.com …ilient-after-all-2391212/ (external link) )

Some of the rugged cases need the plastic to form a proper seal around the device. I use one because it cuts down glare in direct sun, plus it came with my case and i'm not risking a $700 phone to chance. Even though Gorilla Glass is very scratch resistant it's not totally scratch proof. You can also swap out the LCD cover on your camera pretty easy. But with a phone you have to take the entire device apart to replace it. So they do serve a purpose which in my case is to help protect from outside elements and cut down on glare.
