Hi,

I just picked up a CLP 60D. When I put the camera in live view, the image looks very clean and sharp...Then when I put increase the magnification it gets less sharp and I can kind of see the individual pixels twinkle a bit. Is this normal?

Can someone take a look at LV on their camera and see if they see what I am talking about at 10x magnification?

No twinkling. However, night time is a really lousy time to do this kind of comparisons.

Thanks for checking...I think what I am seeing is just the difference in viewing at regular and magnification. Thank you again.

It is.

Get a 10x magnifying glass and use it to look at your computer monitor or TV. Same sort of thing, yes?

How dark is it? What you are probably seeing is just the noise in the sensor. When you are zoomed out you don't see it because the camera is downsampling the 18mp of the sensor to only 1mp for the screen, and when that happens you don't see the noise. When you magnify to 10x, there is very little downsampling going on and you are closer to seeing each pixel and you will see the noise much more noticeably.

Any chance you have the "Highlight Alert" feature turned ON? When it is enabled and you view an image with overexposed highlights the overexposed areas blink. See page 192 of the English manual, down near the bottom "About the Highlight Alert" but note that even though this section seems to apply to movies it applies to both still and movie.

Some people like the feature, some don't. I have it enabled and I do ocasionally go back and retake the picture with a manually invoked setting.

i get the same same thing, you are zooming in 10x so of course your are going to start seeing pixels, and the 'twinkling" is some sort of sensor boost that is going on so that you can see the image clearly.

its normal.
