I have a plan.

I will buy up the dozen or so Canon 600 F4/L IS USM lenses available on ebay. Most of these wonderful sellers are willing to let the go for 900-1000 USD. All except one guy who wants 6500 USD, ya right, like I would pay that coin when all these others are way less money. I could then turn around and sell them for half their full retail value to people like those on this forum (the ones who like to get a good deal anyway), let's say for half price. Still a great deal and I would make some good coin for all my wheeling and dealing.

Oh, by the way, I would need the cash up front from anyone wanting me to get them one.

What say? Anyone interested.

And they are listed under categories like baby stuff and books.

Definitely a scam, you'd think ebay would have a better way of crushing them. There have been hordes over the last while, almost identical ads.

Hey BearLeeAlive,

I'll front you the money. I was just notified by email from the Office of the Treasury in Nigeria that I was chosen to recieve some $5 million in dollars from a dead millionare. All I need to do is mail out this check for $500 dollars to get the transaction started. I'm pretty sure it is legit, because the email used alot of fancy terms, some personal phone numbers, and the reply to address was a yahoo account (for the Nigeria Treasury). Once I'm a millionaire, I'll buy all them lenses for you and we can sing together in our new found fortunes.

So how are all these people power sellers with great feedback? And they say they have multiple pieces of these?

Stop it, you made tears run, I was laughing so hard. I think this joint venture could really make us rich.

No, I not trying to scam you! If I was, I would charge you 75%. That's scamming. 50% is only fair when I use your money.

See, here's how it works: If I use my money then I get 100%. If I use your money I only get 50%. See, it's fair that way because we're splitting the proceeds.

Do you understand now?

If you do, send your money to me now!;););)

They are power sellers that made the small mistake of replying to an e-mail from Ebay informing them that their account will be suspended if they don't click on a link in the e-mail and re-enter their user ID and password for verification. Folks of all manner fall for this quite often.

Either that, or their passwords are something really difficult to guess, like "password".

Do not count on it. I got the same email so we will probably have to split it. $2.5 million, well not enough to live on but at least a good start.

Both my wife and me have recieved this request for information update a few times too. The first time my wife almost filled it out as they do a fairly good job of making it look legit. When I heard this I told her to check her info out on ebay and she saw that it was all just fine.
