I've had my T3i for about 7 weeks now, and have taken almost 2,800 pics so far. My lenses still look as they did the day I got them, but do you 'need' to clean them every so often anyhow? I also see people talking about sensor cleaning and such, how often should that be done? ...and, is there any other maintenance to worry about?

Thanks,

~Steve

Until you see something in your photos that is causing a problem just leave it be. If you see any visible dust or dirt on the lens get a rocket blower on it and finish it off with a microfibre cloth. Apart from that, forget it and carry on shooting.

Sweet, thanks! I do have another question, though...In the cleaning kit I have there are little tissue papers, what are they for? They seem too 'rigid' to use on lenses.

They're probably for lenses. A lenspen is a good thing to have around, they're under $10. If the tissues feel too rigid, don't use them.
