I had a chance to do some similar fog shots about a week ago while walking the dog. Didn't have my camera with me, and the fog lifted by the time I got back with it. Bummer! Hugh

I like the higher contrast in #2 better, but I think I would have liked a little more of the foreground in the crop. I like the slightly lighter forground portion in #1, as it suggests that the rising sun is pushing back the darkness. Perhaps a crop roughly half-way between the two would be my preference.
