Bought a refurb 60mm macro. Just received it yesterday.
Have 50D. Also happen to have a t3i that i bought for someone else.

  • 50D+60mm: would not auto-focus. AF switch is ON. Top LCD shows "00" for f-stop
    (thought it is a lemon)

  • t3i+60mm: focuses as expected.
    (thought maybe 50D is faulty)

  • t3i+17-55 & 50D+17-55: both work flawless.

Only had 30min yesterday night to play with it so do not know what to make of it. Any help?
As a side note, lens looks very good, like new.

Try cleaning contacts on 50D.

Make sure that the 60mm lens is fully seated in the bayonet mount of the 50D. To verify, as you rotate the lens in the mount, make sure the lens release button pops up.

My 60mm is a little finicky on certain bodies and I just have to make sure it is fully seated.

Issue solved by cleaning contacts with alcohol. Thanks for all of the responses.

Just thought it would be odd that 60mm worked on t3i but not on 50D, when 50D worked fine with other lenses.
