I am going on my first photography tour in May for 2 weeks. I am upgrading most of my equipment from 40d to 5d3. Here is a list of things I bought so far to be used in my trip:

5d3 with 24-105mm
extra battery
BR imitation shoulder strap with more solid looking connection
Crumpler neck strap
Singh-Ray Vari-n-trio filter, lens cap and 58-77mm step up ring, lens / filter cleaner
Benro 1192 legs + B0 Ball Head from Fleabay (dc-stuffs)
Pre-order RRS l-bracket
--CL score (2 Singh-Ray ND filters (soft / hard) used a few times + Cookin 77mm adapter) - Was $140 a good price?
32gb Sandisk CF card + few of my older CF cards and I'll borrow from friends + borrow a bunch of SD cards.

Things I still have to buy:

Kata 3n1-25PL or 3n1-33 (PL version is 10.2 smallest dimension version 33 9.0 - some US airlines have smaller carry on luggage storage and only allow 9.0 inches height) - concern is if I'll be able to squeeze 25PL slightly if I am on an airline that has this

B+W MR10 UV filter for 24-105mm
B+W MR10 UV filter for 50mm 1.4 & 100mm 2.8 macro? I never used filters for them upto now but I did not use them much and never actively used them in multiple situations throughout the day. 58mm filters are fairly cheap and will not hurt my budget

I am still exploring an option of IR photography and can purchase coworkers 20d for $150 (but I dont think it has live view) and having that converted into IR body. Another option is to convert my 40d which I am not really liking at the moment.

I will be going across several national parks in CA, NV, AZ and visiting all the attractions along the way like Grand Canyon, Bryce, Zion, etc.

Please post comments, suggestions.

PS. I just thought of something. I will have Wifi during my trip on our bus + free hotspots along the way so I can do daily posts with pictures, exclusively on POTN.

Wow, that's a nice buy list.

Enjoy your trip, I look forward to seeing your photos.

Don't know if you qualify, but if you're a geezer you can get a card for $10 that gets you free entrance to National Parks.

Its not a buy list, its a bought list. Also its not to brag but to verify my expenses. I am trying to accomplish the best possible pictures from my trip and upgrading a lot of equipment. With the cost of the trip and lost wages and new purchases it is getting astronomical. I am going all out because its my first big vacation in many years after working hard. According to timesheet I took 2 off days off last year, not counting extra days / hours I worked :)

My trip is also a business expense thru my corporation. All my expenses for my photography purchases & photography trips go thru my company. I am planning on taking a lot of pictures during my trip and selling successful as prints. I will have direct access to sell to some people at my company for top of the line market rate in USA. I am thinking 2 steps ahead.

Admission is taken care of with my trip ;), all the parks and other attractions along the way. Few steps ahead of you :) Plus I am not an old geezer. I am near 1/2 way of an old geezer by US standards...

it's good you're doing it now, by the time you reach geezer status those parks will have been sold to the Chinese.

Yup ;)

Does anyone have any suggestions for any equipment that I did not buy yet and that I might've overlooked?

I would not waste money on UV filters. Color and contrast correction can easily be done with LR or photoshop. No need to put cheap glass in front of good glass. UV filters are more likely to cause image-ruining filter flare than to actually improve images or protect the front element.

I'd skip the UV filters, too.

I don't see a cable or remote shutter release device in there, anywhere. If you don't have one, I'd certainly get yourself one; they're one of the best ways to help get clearer shots when you're shooting from the tripod.

Looks like you're set for gear, now let's hear your travel plans. BTW--Skip the IR. Never saw the attraction personally.

UV filter is more of for general protection and I am using B+W which is no way cheap glass. 58mm B+W UW MR10 filters are around $30.

@ irishman - You are @ Arizona and you dont see attraction in it? I think you have so much landscape for it. While I pass by your state (first time) I hope to capture good images in regular & IR lights. :)
