Hey everyone I just finished my final Pre-College Art Experience class at the Academy of Art and I wanted to get some feedback on my portfolio "San Francisco, A Love Affair." The theme is my love affair with the city and I tried to put the photographs in an order such that it took you around San Francisco from morning to night. I printed out all these photos in 12x18 format in a 13x19 portfolio book. All comments And critique are welcome =)
I posted this thread in the Urban Life section but I'd like some more feedback. =D

Seriously, If you do not ace this "test"... we got a problem. These are superior images of an incredible city, probably some of the best I've ever seen. Your processing just flat out rocks !!

The 6th pic of the bay bridge gives a very different perspective & something I didn't see before. Overall all the pics are awesome!

Ok Nate, you've got good images, the exact same images I can buy down on Pier 39. You did a great job, but really, you need to pick up your tripod and never again stick the legs in somebody's elses tripod holes.

Now go and shoot the REAL SF. There is some grand architecure, all over the city. Shoot the folks that live there. I could spend all day ( and have one more than one occasion) just shooting the ornate fences, scaffolds, building facades etc. Shoot the lesser known areas of the city. Get to know the neighborhoods, each has a flavor all it's own. I don't see Japantown, Chinatown, the Haight, the waterfront, the tugs, the street vendors, even the cheesy tourist shops. Take some of the free or low cost walking tours, they will present photo ops that will blow you away.

Thanks for the feedback everyone!
@sticknpuck Thank you and I spend anywhere from 30 minutes to several hours pouring over little details of my photos. I'm a perfectionist, but photos will always have some kind of flaw in my eyes =P
@LBaldwin, Some of these photos are very similar to the ones you can buy at the Pier, but then again, some of them are not. What I love to shoot is urban and landscape and I was trying to capture those iconic shots of the City in maybe different conditions. This is only my 4th portfolio and I do have many plans for other portfolios during my college years. Since I'll be spending those years in San Francisco, I think I'll be able to accomplish those ideas you presented more thoroughly. I basically stuck to the "Urbanscape" theme throughout my whole PCAE year so to see if I really did improve my skills, and if you go really far back through my Flickr, you'll probably be able to see that as well.

Have you taken Rick Evans Architecture tour? I think he has a really good knowledge base and the POPOs he has found have some really nice views of the city.

I agree. Nice work. Most tourist post cards don't look that good. I enjoy shooting SF too. Keep up the good work.
