Wondered what the heck this critter was until I Google'd it :rolleyes:

The large Bee-Fly, Bombylius major, makes its springtime appearance now.
It is a fly that has evolved to mimic a bee and is harmless to humans.
All pix taken on a Canon 7D/100mmF2.8L macro with late evening sun and the onboard flash for fill :eyes
