This Hawk was on a perch and lifted off right by the road.
Initially I thought we nailed it, but after downloading found the head
was not sharp. In the Editing I sharpened and converted to B/W.
It's meant to be a little more artistic...

Still a fine shot Terry, nicely composed. Lack of shutter speed was the culprit in the bur. At f/6.3 or f/7.1 you would have had shutter speed more appropriate for this kind of action.

Agree with Nighthound on the f stop and shutter speed. Try to keep the shutter speed around 1/2000th if you want to stop the bird for sharp focus. For composition the bird appears to be a little far forward in the shot in IMO.

I wasn't looking for how to correct the situation, the situation happened so fast.
The settings I had are what I had to live with. Just looking for critique on the image.
