Screech Owl

My first wild owl shots. I was walking a trail when I spotted him in a tree. I've heard that they are very approachable, and he certainly was. He was shaded by the trees, so I used my pop-up flash. Maybe it's time to invest in a real flash and better beamer.

What a great find sandwedge! You just never know when an opportunity like this will come along and fantastic that you were up to the challenge.
Very nice to have both images, but the 2nd is clearly the better of the 2. Your pop-up flash did an admirable job helping highlight this guy in the shadows. It also looks like the Screecher moved between images?

He may have moved down the branch a few inches. The two shots are from very different perspectives. He was about 12 feet off the ground. However, the tree was right next to the bank of the bayou. In the first shot, I was at eye level with him because I was on top of the bank. In the second shot, I was about 20 feet from his tree and looking up at him.
