Thanks Andrew. I agree they do look acceptable and within my requirements. And by acceptable I mean either 0 or 1. (Acceptable or not). Not that they're "just" acceptable.

I really like the look of this bag (it's pricey though and lacks any pockets):

The Crumpler Master Delhi 510 also looks good, but can't seem to find it in the U.S.

I'm torn between buying an insert and buying a camera bag.

The more pockets the better. Don't forget that.

I have a Think Tank 40, and it's a great bag. Larger ones would suit you better...Suzy knows her bags!

I keep buying bags that are just big enough (have a small car). That's been a mistake.

I do have a Tenba messenger. In my view it makes a better briefcase than camera bag...for my gear, anyway. Whe I carry a camera it's my nex5 now. Used to be my G11.

Let us know what you buy please.

I can't believe no one mentioned the Domke f2.

It has a retro feel to it, but is pretty stylish. I have the ruggedwear version :D

Billingham. Anything made by Billingham. Canvas and leather; effortlessly stylish.

Good one Komplex, I've seen the "Ari Marcopoulous" somewhere before (online). It's really good looking, not fond of the rain cover guy though, but I'll probably never use the rain cover.

@Hondsmerk I'm actually not a fan of the Billingham, it's a stretch for me to call them stylish. Like I said, a few yes, but in general I don't really like them. Nothing against people who have them. They're great quality and not bottom end when it comes to style, but that's not quite my style. At least all of the photos I've seen.

To be honest, style wise, the UD50 isn't that great either. :/ Are billinghams notoriously expensive?

Depends.
Where are you buying?
The size of bag.
Domke are minimalist bags. I have an F2, and an F3X. They are the easiest bags I have to carry and shoot from. Are they perfect? Well, for some tasks. I think people have a love/hate relationship with Domke (and Billingham too.) That's why I didn't mention them.
Think Tank--if I lived in the US I would consider them affordable. Here in Canada I find them horribly overpriced. That's a retailer's decision? Henry's. The Retro10 cost $149 in the US when I bought; Canada the cost was $209 plus 13% tax. And the dollar is at par...What should the price be? On the other hand, if they can sell them for that, why not?
Billingham are great shooter's bags. Here the cost isn't much different than Think Tank.
Bags range between shooter's bags and storage boxes.
Shooter's bags are easy to shoot from, but not heavy and padded. (That's an advantage, or disadvantage depending on who you are.) Boxes keep gear safe, but make it harder to reach and use.

Way back when, perhaps '73 during the Nikon School I first attended, they emphasized having gear ready to shoot. That's when I first heard about (N)eveready cases. The lovely leather wraps that people used to put on their cameras to protect them from dust and marks. Still sell them today.

As a photographer I obsess about gear. Cameras. Lenses. Straps. Bags...and so much more. But stuff isn't important. Being there, understanding light, and getting images that I'm happy with...that's what is important for me. Gear helps me do that.

This site is incredible; I find that I can do a little searching and a little reading and find out what other enthusiasts think about a bag. The photos tell me whether they use the bag the same way I might. cambags is another site with reviews.

But when it comes to style, can't help you there. I think my Domkes, Billingham, LowePros and Think Tanks are beautiful. Not so sure about my Tenbas. On the other hand, you may think they're ugly. That's cool.

Life's about choices.

The reason I choose TT bags is mainly they look sleek and are amazingly built, so well manufactured to look professional. The Domke bags are tough, and can take a lot of wear. The Kata bags are light and cool looking and comfy. If you are wanting something to use for a wedding, the UD's look very sleek and are extremely functional. I don't use the large leather bags, they are very heavy. But for hiking, I use the Kata's. So, it's really a matter of choice and budget.

The Think Tank Retrospective line are amazing! I have the 20 and the 5 and both have more then enough space for my uses. Not only that, but they look very nice(Pinestone!). I love how their very discreet looking; everyone is always shocked when I take a camera out of them because they DON'T look like camera bags. I live in a not so nice area, so it's a major plus for me :) I highly recommend them.

Thanks tats. It was one of my big "likes" in some tabs I had open on my discovery process... I then restarted my computer and chrome didn't keep my tabs (I had about 30, with mabye 5 to 7 good choices).

:(

If you want something custom, I can make it happen. I make custom softgoods using MIL-SPEC materials and stock a variety of colors :D
