Sturdy Budget Tripod Recommendations?

I am looking for a sturdy tripod....but not too pricey. I don't use a tripod that much but would like something that's not going to ripple in a breeze.
I currently have the Manfrotto 7302YB but it just can't handle the weight of the lenses that I have (and not sturdy enough).
Any recommendations?

I've researched and have been considering the 055xprob. It seems to be a very sturdy unit and it might be a good alternative for you :) Also, it can hold 15lbs!

Canon 6D... and much more :)

Thanks Dingo. That's $240.00 without the head though. Perhaps a little more than I was looking to spend.

How much were you hoping to spend to get a stable tripod setup OP?

If for you the weight* isn't an issue you could take a look at the Berlebach Report (expecially the 2 section models).
For example the Tripod Report 3002 (external link) if you need a certain height without compromise on the stability using a central column.

Or you can choose between some less weight model with central column and/or 3 sections.

The Manfrotto 055XB is available at B&H for $139.81.

You've spent so much on lenses to, I assume, improve the quality of your images.

Don't skimp on a tripod which will also improve the quality of your images. The 055XproB is cheap for a tripod, and very sturdy.

Its SUPER cheap in fact, but so may people new to this think that only lenese and bodies are expensive and justified to be expensive. Sadly, they dont get at first that EVERYTHING is expensive and most of the time well worth it!

Going cheap on tripods is very often a false economy if experiences on the forum are anything to go buy.

I have a 190CXPro4 - not sure how it compares in price to the 055X but it's fantastic.
