I am looking to buy a 10-22 soon to use for landscape as my wide angle. I am going to want to purchase a filter holder system also. Can someone tell me a good filter holder system to buy? I read articles about all of the Cokin holders and the only one that does not produce any vignetting (even at 10mm) is the Cokin X-Pro. The only problem is that the Cokin systems only hold Cokin glass...and I've heard that the Cokin glass gives off a magenta cast. Can someone recommend a different holder system for me? Links would be appreciated!

Where'd you hear that? Hitech and even Singh-Ray make filters that will fit both the Cokin P-holder as well as the Z-Pro holder (can't confirm about the X-Pro). Personally, I'd stay away from the Cokin stuff...even the Z-Pro will vignette at very wide focal lengths without some workaround. Try and get a Lee Foundation Kit holder. Plenty of threads on this Cokin/Lee topic...a search will bring them up.

So if I bought this one: http://www.amazon.com …res-Adapter/dp/B00009XW3O (external link) how would I know what glass to buy? Do they come in standard sizes? Would this one be 4" glass? Also could I only use LEE glass or could I use something else as long as it was 4"...?

As for ND, I would like to get myself one of those variable ND filters that screw on to the lens...the one I'm looking at covers ND3, ND6, ND9, ND16, ND32, and ND400. Any comments on that?

Typically, any 4" wide filter (4x4, 4x5, 4x6) will fit a holder that's designed for the 4" (100mm) wide filters. There may be some issues with filter thicknesses from one brand to the next, but I've used Hitech filters and Lee filters in my Lee Foundation Kit holder without any problems...never had one slip out. If you use a Lee holder, you are not locked into using only Lee filters.

If you want a variable ND filter, my suggestion would be either of the Singh-Ray variants, Vari-ND or Vari-N-Duo (has an integral polarizer). IQ from these filters is excellent, with no dropoff. The S-R filters are more expensive than the knockoffs (Fader, Polaroid, etc) but you never read about any complaints with regard to IQ. Personally, I use the Vari-N-Duo quite a bit. Lots of threads on variable ND filters...search them out for more details.
