The only difference is the aircraft are moving 100 times faster !
I would say I take about 150 - 200 and publish about 50 -70 depending on the game and how the team are playing.
Maybe I have lower standards ?

This is club rugby. I am also pretty much just shooting one team. I am not getting a lot of the other action as I am trying to mostly get them when they score.

At the risk of adding to your thread. Given that I have made some comments I should give you the opportunity to look at my output from the last game I went to. Burnham Rugby (external link).
Like you, this is club rugby and I shoot from the point of view of one team.

Nice shots!!! Have you been shooting rugby long? Not to make excuses but that was my 2nd time shooting it lol and my first time with my 300mm f2.8.

I usually try and stay near the goal lines. Where do you position yourself?

Thanks, couple of seasons, I started doing it as I wanted a subject to shoot that would vary in it predicted path ( I have shot a lot of cycling events over the years).
I use a 300mm F4, sometimes with a x1.4, at present I cant afford a F2.8 !
Yes I stay about 10 - 30 yards from the goal line then the team are always coming up the field towards me. I keep thinking that I should try a different postion to stand at but have not yet.
