I say stick with 5D2 and 85mm buy a cheap 17-40mm and be done with it

No, I think the 5dc is a better choice vs T3i--since you shoot a lot of portraits. T3i would only be a no-brainer if you shoot video. And really, the T2i is a better value vs T3i.
