I'm a FREE PERSON AGAIN WOOT! I enjoyed my day cleaning, (shipping) doing P90X, making my first "clean" smoothie and taking pictures "for fun" and spending time with the girls while doing all that. GOOD DAY!You had to ship them a hard drive? I thought they took that stuff in either printed form, or with the files just burned to DVD

I had 10 gigs which I think would be 3 DVD's. I get the HD back Brandy 500px

I assumed it wasn't quite as long as war and peace I had a 400-page thesis which I had printed for 3 sources for review and submission. They didn't even want the digital copy.If you get it back, that's fine. I routinely burn files to DVD though. One 8.5gb disk and one 4.7gb disk is around $1.10, and is cheaper to ship than a hard drive--3.5" especially. Flash drive would make a lot of sense. A hard drive might be a PITA for them to hook up. I've seen interns destroy a hard drive, as odd as that may be. Happily I did not have to pay shipping, and I plan to use that HD as a back up of all the book files once I get it back, gonna put all the CR2 raws on there. Its about 180 pages and each page will have a photo on it i think. I am sure Randomhouse will not smash my hard drive, if they do they will pay for it. Brandy 500px

Also I had NO idea how much room the final files would take up, I had like 600 files originally. I think I brought it down to 300. Shew. It was a lot of work! Brandy 500px

I would not trust a drive that has been mailed around too much. Impact forces involved in shipping can drasticly adverse the life of a drive. pixiepearls wrote in post #14204793 yeah I have one a few of those but they make me nervous for serious back up! So I am a little courious, this is a book right? I have never written a book but I am courious why it takes up 10GB. Most books I read are largely text, which take up very little space. Even pictures I can't imagine taking up that much space because book pages aren't exactly huge so even at 300dpi the image files would not be that big... Will | WilliamLiuPhotography.com
