I'm a part of the Louisiana Tech Eco Marathon team and had the privelage of going to the competition this past weekend. We entered three cars this year (shown below). The solid red car is the current North American holder for gasoline fuel efficiency in the Urban Concept category at 646.7 miles per gallon (set in 2011). The red car with the white scallops on the side shattered the North American diesel record in the Urban Concept category with 488 miles per gallon (set this year). The red and white car also won an award for design and ergonomics. Both red cars were entered in the Urban Concept category which means that they are both street legal and can be registered with as low speed vehicles and driven on the streets. Below of a few of my shots from the competition, and more can be found in my Flickr photoset here (external link).

Feel free to contact me if you'd like any more info on anything

A little background on the competition. The Shell Eco Marathon is a competition hosted in Houston for high school and college teams. The teams design, fabricate, test and drive their cars to maximize fuel efficiency.

I hope you enjoy the pictures.

Size-wise, these two cars are about 1/3 the size of a mini. Thanks!

The body is Styrofoam sandwiched by carbon fiber. The only metal is the engine, the frame the engine sits on, the wires, and the wheel rims and spokes.
