I took these yesterday morning at Poverty Point Reservoir in Delhi, La. This is my favorite spot on the lake, and there is often a bald eagle or two in the trees out in the water. Unfortunately, the trees are a little too far out for me to get good close-ups, but I still enjoy sitting on the bank and watching these and other birds, and the general beautiful setting. Maybe sometime soon, I'll get my kayak out and try to get a little closer.

These are extreme crops using a t2i and 100-400L.

While not the best quality, the rush of watching an eagle swoop down to the water, catch a fish (which unfortunately was behind a tree - the photo was nothing but a tree, an eagle wing, and a splash), and then fly away was extremely thrilling. I actually did a Tiger Woods fist pump as the eagle flew off toward its nest somewhere south of the lake. I hope you enjoy and thanks for looking!

nice shots, especially the last one. I would have to do the same fist pump if I had seen that, must have been thrilling!

With the beauty of the site as you describe it sandwedge, and the laws of nature at work who couldn't be happy with that experience.
You came away with some pretty nice captures too considering the distance. I think the first and last IF images are the best quality and show the Eagle w/it's catch. The 2nd image showing him taking off from his perch is very nice too.
We'll look forward to more!
