I took these yesterday morning at Poverty Point Reservoir in Delhi, La. This is my favorite spot on the lake, and there is often a bald eagle or two in the trees out in the water. Unfortunately, the trees are a little too far out for me to get good close-ups, but I still enjoy sitting on the bank and watching these and other birds, and the general beautiful setting. Maybe sometime soon, I'll get my kayak out and try to get a little closer.
These are extreme crops using a t2i and 100-400L.
While not the best quality, the rush of watching an eagle swoop down to the water, catch a fish (which unfortunately was behind a tree - the photo was nothing but a tree, an eagle wing, and a splash), and then fly away was extremely thrilling. I actually did a Tiger Woods fist pump as the eagle flew off toward its nest somewhere south of the lake. I hope you enjoy and thanks for looking!
