If I recall, the perfect storm was essentially, three fronts all colliding, right? Well, last night felt quite like that, and then some. First, I have shot very little LAX (and its been years since I have) so timing and whatnot was really off. Second up, I have not done much sports shooting at all in the last year so I am way out of practice. Third, the game start time was right at the hour where there's little light but the stadium lights aren't quite helping much yet. Then, just to make it fun and interesting...I was trying out a lens that literally showed up in the mail yesterday and it turns out that it is backfocusing a decent amount so some MA is needed before its next outing.
All that bitchin aside, I loved being back out shooting sports and the game was pretty historic for our HS as it was the very first game for our brand new girl's lacrosse program. The ladies did great despite their inexperience and we had a nice turnout to cheer them on.
Image wise, I did struggle with the backfocusing issue and I'm definitely not the best high ISO shooter so there's lots of noise and nastiness in all of these. I'm definitely looking forward to the next game after I get the MA taken care of and hopefully, with some better light. All images shot with 1DMkIII and a 70-200 f2.8 non-IS (some with a 1.4x attached). All ambient and roughly 1/500s and anywhere from 2500-3200 ISO. Exif is included if you care.
Nothing special really, just excited to have something to post here after so long. Once I get back into the swing of things and get the MA worked out, I hope to be able to post some decent shots but in the meantime, this is what I walked away with last night..
