I'm looking to pick up a Sigma 50. Any deals?

Thanks.

I finally took the plunge on this one. A couple of weeks ago Abe's was running $30 off select Sigma lenses. The 50 being one of them. They were also running $15 off any order over $400. The made the cost of the lens $454. Thought that was a pretty good deal.

^Good deal. A friend picked up the Sigma 50 from them during Christmas of 2011 for $440 shipped.
I'm hoping to pick up one around $450 as well. :)

The Sigma 50 is an awesome lens. I think it's a bargain for the IQ and oh that buttery bokeh.

I just ordered mine from Abe's of Maine for $454 shipped. There's a promotion for $30 off, then apply code LOYALTY15 for an additional $15 off. Total should be $454. Pretty good deal considering they seem to sell quickly used for $425 ish.

Amazon has a deal where you get 20% off of the Sig 50 1.4 if you buy a body also. Not sure if that would apply to you though but it is like $100 off.

I borrowed my friend's sigma 50 and tested it out on my 5D II. It misfocused so bad (f 1.4 to 2.0) that I had to microadjust to +20 to get a decent shot. now I'm a bit reluctant to pick one up. :(

Do you guys have any luck?

Sigma is a hit and miss. You can pick up one tomorrow with minor MA like +2 or -2. I once purchased three brand new Sigma (85, 50 and 35) on the same day....returned them all the next ;-(

I have had 2 sigma 50's and 3 sigma 30's. 4 of the 5 were returned right away. The 5th a sigma 30 was one of the best lenses I ever had. Unfortunately i sold it when I upgraded to FF. The most recent was a sigma 50 I bought and returned last week.

I gave up and bought a used 35L off of the forum.
