The one you listed, the 70-200 f/4 is an amazingly sharp lens. Many people say it is the sharpest zoom lens in Canon's lineup. Good luck with your lens hunt!

Hmmm, 200mm may be a bit short for wildlife. I would go one of two routes -

1. Get a 55-250, sell the 75-300 and save for a bit longer. The 55-250 is quite a bit better than the 75-300 and is great quality for the price. It'll tide you over while you save up for a good wildlife lens (i.e., the 100-400 or similar).

2. Get a second-hand Sigma 120-400 lens. It's got the length you really need for wildlife. It's got image stabilisation. It's got HSM for fast focussing. And it's just within your budget (external link).

Yeah, I agree with Frank on both points. The 100-400L is the best "budget" wildlife lens, but out of your price range at the moment. I would, personally, go with the second of those two options, if the right lens became available. The 55-250 is said to be a good lens, but longer is better with wildlife.

Unfortunately the terms "wildlife lens" and "budget" don't really go together well.

I'll agree, you are going to need longer focal lengths for most wildlife. The 55-250IS can get nice shots but eventually you're going to want 400mm

If you're OK with the focal length of your 75-300, take a look at tamron's 70-300 VC USD. It has what you want; faster focus, and is in your budget.

The 70-200 might be a bit short, yes. You can add a 1.4x TC to it though, and you'll be at 280mm, so again, if you're happy with 300mm, that would be a good option.

Also, this isn't Yahoo answers, there is no awarding "best answer"... ;)
