Is it me or does anyone else notice large corporations often have what we consider terrible photography for their products or advertisements. I received a advertisment today by email from a childrens company and the image they used for a header would get torn to shreds here as far as critique goes. Ive seen it with other childrens magazines as well. (Im a fairly new parent so this is what Im looking at a lot) Is this just a budget cutting and who really cares attitude?

For ever bad piece I see I see 5 or 6 great pieces. The companies that spend, get the talent thus the better pieces. The first thing to go in many corporations when things get tight are the marketing and advertising budgets.

Probably a little of both, even large corporations fall for fauxtographers as a way of cutting budgets. Some have taken everything in house. Eliminating ad agencies, art directors and qualified experienced photographers is stupid, the cost of printing and placement are wasted without content IMO.
