Purchase Photoshop CS5 - Free Upgrade to CS6 Question

Thinking of taking the plunge and buying CS5 so I can get the free upgrade to CS6 when it is released next month. I have one question - is everyone eligible or do you have to be a student/educator or commercial?

Where did you find out about a Free upgrade?

Adobe often does courtesy upgrades, and they usually have a window of about 30 days where they'll upgrade you for free within whatever version you own.

I would be careful buying now. Being off by a day can be an expensive mistake. Plus the courtesy upgrade is not guaranteed. I know they did it with LR4 but I'm not sure what their CS6 policy will be. Maybe just wait until close to the release date, buy it, don't open it, and see what they'll do for you.

I think so - it would upgrade you to the student edition of CS6

Thx...I chatted with an adobe rep online and he confirmed that any version of cs5.5 can be upgraded to cs6 at launch time. Pretty good deal because I can get the student/teacher version of cs5.5 for 275.00. I am working off of photoshp 6.0 right now and just recently downloaded the beta version of cs6.

Just as an FYI, if you were watching the prices, the day they announced the free upgrade, they raised their prices a few hundred dollars for almost all products.
