This one's for Don - :)
Captured this evening from the top of my driveway in suburban Atlanta from about 125 yards away. I threw everything I had at it FL-wise (there were actually 2, but one was too low in the trees), but came up short of the "Duane stack".
A new and totally unexpected "lifer" for me to say the least!

Haha, but you don't have anything to apologize about!! :) The whites look very good indeed!
You know, I saw one last year for the very first time in my life, but depressingly far away and the few shots I kept I only kept as reminders that I really did see one...
Steve, sincere congratulations on capturing this beauty. And the shots are wonderful; I would be delighted to have come home with anything half as good!

It was quite a shock to see these this close to home Levina, and the only thing I could think of when I was in PS is "please don't mess up the whites" :). Thanks always for your lovely comments.

Thanks Rick. I think that's the best too.

I appreciate it Gary. Luckily, I think, these came to me rather than me trying to sneak up on them.

Thank you Lester. Yes whites are a challenge and one I'm not really used to.

I know you need Florida Claude and I really didn't mean it the way it came out. I appreciate your understanding and comments.

You did great on these Steve, the whites look nice on my monitor.

Nice looking bird too, all decked out for the spring dance.

Were those 120yds away?
They are great. I would be happy with that at
40 feet.
What setup?

Great shots Steve of a difficult bird to photograph with all that whiter than white.
however you do need Fl, the birds are a dime a dozen so lots of practise :D

Great results Steve, especially from that distance. I thought I had a good variety of garden birds but an Egret on your driveway? OK, you win :)

Much appreciated Steve. I guess I'll have to thank Spring for bringing this one my way.

The EXIF doesn't show subject distance (don't know why not), but it was at least 100 yds Jeremy. Eqpt was the 1D4 on the 500mm + 1.4TC2, tripod and remote release as always. And as always thanks for the comments.

That's what I lack is practice on white birds like this cdive. And yes, FL is needed, but I don't need to go there just yet - :). I appreciate the nice comments.

Quite the surprise it was Mark showing up behind my house. And they stayed right there in the tree tops for about 45 minutes while I walked the dogs....I was very lucky! Thanks for the compliments as always.
