tmoore...
Great colors and background! The feel seems just a bit off for me with the top of the flagpole cropped out.

I might even consider a vertical crop with the pole at a 30 degree (or so) angle to the left.

The flag's position in the wind helps make this a compelling capture.

Image editing OK, encouraged, and expected. Thank you for helping me learn!

How about a tilted pole with a tighter crop?

Sometimes, cropping is like Worcestershire sauce for me. If you haven't cropped (added) enough, crop (add) more. If you've cropped (added) too much, crop (add) more.

Thoughts?

I agree with needing the top of the pole in the shot, but I like it regardless. I definitely don't like the second tighter crop.

Wish the contrails weren't there, but nice overall.

Thanks, and the contrails make the picture imo - I may take another stab at it with the top in - in this shot I'd missed it sadly so I'll have to composite one in from some of the other shots.

I agree, tmoore, the contrails are a good add. I especially like the lower ones that pick up the orange from the sunset. [Even though I cropped them out in my edit...it wasn't personal against the contrails.]

Thanks, Cpam, I started putting the top of the flag pole back in and to be honest I like the way this shot came out with out it. The focus is the flag and I think it all plays in well together...

If the top was in it would shift the flag down too much...
