It's been a while since I've posted anything really, been pretty busy working full time, wish I had more time to post and shoot stuff.. Had the opportunity to shoot GWAR and I think it turned out pretty well. Not sure if images will link from beyondtheconcert.com, and if they do, there are more images over at the site if you'd like to see more.

Nice! I really dig #2 & #4. Three is cool too but the lighting is so harsh....bet it'd make a great b&w with the right processing.

Get any Gwar fluids on your camera? :p

They most certainly are, okay they were better known during the 90's but i understand they still tour. Look them up on Youtube but only if you are not easily offended by imitation bodily fluids, swearing and sexual references. Horror Of Yig and Have you seen me are my two favourites.

Gwar are funny. If you want dark CIrcus Rock might i suggest Mr Bungle.

I've been to a few shows..... wear a white t-shirt and it gets stained by whatever they shoot into the crowd and becomes you concert t.

One of my favorite things was how they opened for themselves back in the day. They just wore police uniforms, played a set, then changed into their costumes.

OP, did you get out before they started spewing fluid from their cannons, etc?

This band and ICP are two bands I refuse to shoot. I just don't get paid enough to risk my equipment.

It isn't that bad...when I shot Gwar in November, they didn't bring out the big cannons & sprayers until later in the show. You'd still be crazy to shoot them from the pit without any protection though. I just bought some cheap disposable Op Tech rainsleves and they did a good job of protecting my gear.

I could have sworn they were aiming their blood spray at the photographers for the first few songs though.

Ha funny you guys should ask- This was my first Gwar show and I knew they would shoot blood and other fluids, but I figured I'd be able to see when they had one of the "creatures" out and be able to get well out of the way. Everyone up front in the crowd thought I was crazy to not have my cameras in some sort of rainsleeve. Sure enough, Gwar starts out with a completely dark set and this character with it's hood up- Immediately the hood drops down and it start's spraying blood RIGHT at me and all over my new 14mm 2.8 lens that I literally got that day. Luckily, it just splashed the front of the lens and a little bit on my two bodies, I wiped it off over on the side and was back in action.

Oderus has always seemed to single me out for bloodbaths every time I have shot them. Ziploc gets total credit for the large bags that I make camera raingear from :)
