I tend for forget what I post where, but I see I have missed posting these guys, though one was in the before/after thread.
So up north, where I have been every July for the last 6 years, is a place called Hasties Swamp. They have a ton of these birds there, and some others. Not been a great place to shoot much for the last couple of years, but I usually manage to bring home something, and was quite pleased with these two.Taken two days apart, with different lighting. Both days I timed it badly, getting there 5 mins before the tourist buses turned up. :(

Pretty shots Tina, the clarity in the first image is exceptional... beautiful, outlined light.

Amazing for many reasons Tina.
The first is stellar because of composition, exposure, IQ...just everything.
The second is wonderful for the outline of light added the icing to the cake of a good shot.

Wow, VERY interesting plumage the duck has, Tina! You've captured it beautifully. You even took advantage of the backlit situation. How did u do that? :D

I remember the 1st image from the previously mentioned thread Tina, but it's always going to get my attention as such a unique looking duck.
As far as the 2nd image goes, I had to pick my jaw up from off the floor when I first saw it. Try as I might I've never even come close to getting a proper exposure in a backlit situation like the one in this capture. You have done an amazing job with that one and have left me in awe. Excellent....both!

Lol, thankyou, but I have to say I don't think them ugly at all, but a very pretty duck.

Thanks Fee. As for the backlit, it was not a strong sun (diffused a bit from memory), and it was a bit angled to the duck and a bit low, so just metered off the duck, and took the shot. Lol, I never know how I do anything, I just shoot and hope for the best! I didn't have any choice in where I could shoot from, so I actually was cursing a bit about the sun being in front instead of behind me, then I noticed the rim light, and hoped it would work.

Wow, thankyou very much Steve, that is very high praise indeed!! I was quite pleased when I got home, as my trip hadn't really given me as many opportunities, or good images as I had hoped, so it was a nice ending. I think I was lucky in that the background was in shade, being the water and trees in the far distance probably helped even out the light somewhat. I am certainly going there again this year!

Love the feather pattern of these ducks Tina. It's amazing the difference that light can have on a photo and this is a great example. Great pair of shots.
