Dec 01, 2005 17:38 | #8 Marie, no it's not a pot....Cerianthid anemones are actually a worm, the pot like thing you can see is the tube in which the actual worm lives. The pic I took shows the 'crown'. The worm buries itself in the sand forming the pot like tube leaving the crown exposed above the sand to catch food. The stingers pack quiet a punch and can catch small fish. This 'tube anemone' is approx 5" in diamter, the tube section is approx 8-9" long.
