That is the largest size allowed here. Perhaps you are not viewing them at 100% when you've reduced them?

I use Flickr and resize them to at least 2500 on the long side

When you say "small" that's just relative to your viewer.

When you post a shot for the Web, those shots will either be displayed "full size" according to your monitor's resolution, or your Web software will resize them for "normal" viewing, which is often smaller than your 1024 pixel size. But if you post a 1024 pixel image here, it will dispaly at that size -- smaller than "full screen", but still a nice size.

But when you view a pic on your computer image viewer, or in an app (even Photoshop), then the viewing size may not be "100%", or a pixel-to-pixel mapping on your screen. You would have to select a "full size" view.

I found something nice about Facebook yesterday -- they have enabled not just viewing images at a larger size but also with some browsers you can turn on "Fullscreen" viewing. The cool thing is that I now "Publish" pics from Lightroom at a new "spec", 1600x1000 pixels max, and then when I view them at "Fullscreen" they come close to actually filling the screen! Very cool!
