So, I may have font a little mad. This happens from time to time(ok, it happens often).
I desire a full frame camera AND video, but I really(really) want that pro body...
is the 1Dx really the only way to get it all?

There is supposed to be a video oriented camera coming out that will have the 1D form factor. You just need to be patient. VanillaImaging.com

I suppose I am also concerned about the ability to achieve shallow depth of field with a 1D camera, which I have never worried about before, but now I 'feel' as though the 1.3x sensors are incapable. I don't know why! PhaseOne H25

Putting it on a rig makes you look ridiculous, hand holding it makes it look shaky cause it's so heavy. a "pro" canon body has the same video quality and function as the 5D Mark II or III. Might as well get that. =P Equipment: 5D Mark II/5D Mark III: 24-70mm f/2.8L | 70-200mm II IS f/2.8L | 135mm f/2L | 50mm II f/1.8

If your looking at the 1D series because of the pro "look" and not so much the other features of them - get the battery grip for the 5D3 and that problem is solved 5D3 | 7D | 85L II | 70-300L | 24-105L | Nifty Fifty | 600EX-RT_______________

Well, the 1Ds is certainly all of those. Get the 1Dx, it'll do it all in a pro body.

Don't get me wrong, I too was looking at the 1DX, but decided that the 5D3 actually gave me every major point I was looking for (the 1DX's 61pt AF system, 6fps, full frame, Digic 5+ processor, etc) and that gave me the extra cash to spend on a sweet L lens to go along with it ![]() Make that 2 L lens. 5DIII | 5D II | 35 F2.0 | 50 F1.8 | 85L | 100L | 70-200 L II | 600EX-RT x 2
