70-200MKII+2XIIITele test

I know this has bee a big discussion and thought this might help somebody. Just a little test I did today so I can justify my purchases to myself. Mainly the 70-200MKII and 2XTeleIII. First pic is where I was standing in relation to the subjects. I think the description of all the pics are under them minus the first pic. Hope this helps so others. Oh, these are SOOC and 100% crops on the ones that were cropped and maxed out at 300mm on the 70-300 and 400mm on the 70-200+2X.

Impressive stuff. I've only got a 1.4x Kenko TC at the moment, might have to look into getting one of these after seeing the results!

Save your money and get used Canon 2XII. Got mine for $220.

Shuttle at F/8 and 400mm with 2XII and 70-200 2.8 IS II. The 2X III is designed for large improvement with 400mm and 500mm lenses.

That's different from what I read....all the reviews and real user experience suggest that the 2XIII is much better than the 2xII when used with the 70-2002.8II.

The difference is quite significant and noticeable.

hihi... can share how much the AF speed is being compromised after attaching this lens with the MKIII TC?...

Great shot! I think I am sold on the 2x converter as well. Although, I'd like to see some wildlife shots with the 70-200 + the 2x TC

I agree that the 2xIII is supposed to be better than the 2xII, it's definitely noticeable but not a significant difference. Both will do the job, but the 2xIII has the edge.
Depends what you're willing to pay, as you can pick up a used 2xII for around half the price of a new 2xIII
