You obviously did'nt see my photos :D

Seeing as you run it, can you swing a few votes my way, i won't tell honest. ;)

Lol. If i felt like fixing it I would firstly position myself as number 1 but that's no fair. Infact I need to get out more and take some photos. What I like about the site is that I am actually shooting with the categories in the back of my mind. Of course the worry is that when I am shooting a wedding I am not taking photos of headstones in a cemetary to fulfil the category...

Thanks for all the kind feedback. This week I have implemented a new feature called Weekly Contests whereby you shoot for the contest. This weeks weekly contest is called reflective photographers.

Thanks folks...

Thank god you explained that, i thought you meant pictures of photographers in reflections, through windows and glass etc.

Now do you still say your statement " anybody can win " still applies? :D

Lol. My worry with this contest is that some people might have got the wrong end of the stick and photographed themselves in chrome teapots. Luckily for the site most people appear to be genuine.

Haven't had too much time to play, but still great fun.
Even got my 1st win, destroyed the opposition in the water category:D

Steven, a couple of comments/suggestions:

Multiple postings in one competition. In one competition (wedding i think it was) there were what looked like 3 images from 1 photographer. As per your welcome guide photographers should be limited to one entry per competition.

Re submitting images. I've also seen a few photos that have been entered, then re-entered in the same category, even an image that won a category was re-entered in that same category and won again.

My opinion is that these aren't in the spirit of the competition, but other than those still a great compo.

Cheers, Paul.
If it moves, shoot it. If it shoots back, get a bigger lens.
Gear: A slowly but surely growing list of mainly Canon bits and pieces.

Hi Paul

Thanks very much for the feedback. The duplicate posting issue is one that I am aware of and working on a fix. Should be corrected in a couple of days. Pictures that get entered into more than one contest is tricky because even though the site prevents the same picture going up people can get around this by just uploading a duplicate picture on to Flickr. Luckily it is quite rare but it does happen occasionally. This is being monitored.

Thanks again for your feedback. I cam continually looking at ways to make it a great place so everyone is more than welcome to come back to me with further suggestions.

Kind regards

Steven

Steven,

I noticed today that a photo that I had submitted showed up twice as a recent winner, although I had only entered it once and it only won once. Now, I have been seeing the same photos popping up several times (submitted multiple times) as Paul mentioned, but what the screen capture below shows seems to be more of a back-end error.

Ah Jason. Could it be that the duplicate picture was a Showdown Contest winner? If so then this is the reason why it's displaying twice. But you are right that displaying it twice is an issue on this screen. I will add a note to get this corrected. Many thanks. Steven.

It figures my image is sandwiched between those two trouble makers.

Wow, I've been well addicted to this, forgot all about POTN and Facebook. At first I was excited about getting a silver ranking, then a gold and then top 10 and now I'm fifth, I surely gets you thinking about photographing for set subjects and also gets you creativity working overtime if you're stuck at home. One thing I would love to see is a "User Control Pannel" where you can view all of your submisions and how they ranked in each category. That would be super sweet

Hey Milutiche. You have already got a profile screen. If you click on your picture at the top of the screen you can access it. This shows your winners and the results of contests you have voted in. There are a few minor gripes with this screen which will be ironed out soon but in the main works well. More functionality will be added over time.

Your comment about thinking about the pictures you are taking is exactly what I am hoping people will get out of the site. It can only get better with everyone's suggestions. Also there is the weekly contests too.

Many thanks

Steven

Steven,

You know, that is what I was hoping it was, but I believe I lost the Showdown with that one.:(

If I might add to the soup...I like the idea of knowing what became of images that didn't place, since the FA machine is continually grinding out results and we can't always be attentive to them. If it's too burdensome to place the detail on the individual's profile page, perhaps staying with the green check flags on the "contests completed" section would work for individual tracking purposes.

Otherwise, you've created an addiction. Thank you very much!
