What would you do if this would happen to you?

Today I was watching couple youtube clips and came across these crazy/funny , well maybe not funny moments during wedding shoots. My mind instantly went, OMG what would I do if similar thing would happen to me? It is for sure unfortunate and maybe embarrassing but both cameras toast or complete wedding party ruined doe to nice shot at the dock!

Here are those unfortunate moments, it would be interesting to hear from you what you would do in such situation.

Let's see, paid pro, ruined gear, hope I have backup, or I can borrow some guest's SLR.... If not, start calling every photog I know to help.

The other one, gotta laugh it off.

1) I'd grab another camera or two out of the car... (I always have 4 or 5 bodies with me). A backup camera shouldn't be your second camera... there is a difference

2) Not really a biggy... get a fun shot of them all on dry land... try and get a few laughs and then chill out for 10 while they got cleaned up.

4-5 bodies wow, that is definitely life saver in the first situation, I usually have 2

for the second situation, who was blamed if any? The photographer for posing all on the dock? , what happened after ?

I shoot the ceremonies with three. The rest of the day I use two. I always have at least one 5D MKII in the car.

Yeah, we'd use backups. Actually, my wife is also my backup and I'm hers; we shoot all our weddings together.

We usually go with 3-4 cameras as well. It's always been 4 but my 40D started giving me Error 99 a few weeks ago and I've been too busy to send it in, so for now it's just three. Either way, I'd have back-up. I also wouldn't be walking backwards with my flash pointed behind me... I station myself in one spot and shoot. I'm not entirely sure what that photographer was trying to accomplish.

I had same error on my 40D it was $270 to fix. Apparently that is doe to hitting the cam somewhere and the shutter goes out of whack.

That is always a winning combination. Too bad my wife has no interest in photography....

That's not bad. That's about what I paid for it so together it's still less than one brand new. I even brought it in to CPS while at WPPI and the guys there were baffled. They looked my camera over and couldn't see anything wrong with it. The main guy even commented that it looked in perfect condition like it was never used (which is mostly true, it has under 2,000 on the shutter). So... we shall see. My 5DII needs to go in as well so I'm just saving up for when I can just send everything in at once and get it over with.

I got my 5DmkII done at the same time, had to fix top LCD it cracked, again about $270. Now I am looking to buy second 5DII

To be honest, I think both situations involve a certain amount of incompetence on the photographer's part which I don't think would ever befall me. The second one is more of a dumb luck situation, but not really that shocking a dock would give in with so much weight on it.
