Couple of stupid questions:
- you said you metered for the sky.. I guess you metered on the blue sky and left the sun out of the viewfinder during the metering right ?
- Do you always use ISO 100 1/200s as a start and figure out which aperature to use from their ?
- On Canon you can also use ISO 50.. Anyone has any experience with this ? Is it usable in situations like these ?
- Last question.. While metering the flash (jinbei dc1200 here) i always start from the lowest setting and then power up from there.. But i noticed that my flashmeter often does not see the flash at the lowest setting. So i was wondering if perhaps its better to start metering from fullpower and then turn it down until you reach your correct settings..

- As always, meter for the highlights, flash for the shadows.
- No. I basically guess my exposure and then tweak it, but I'm rarely more than a stop or two off these days. On days like this I'd be at ISO25 if I had it, just to keep my shutter low so my strobe was within the sync. I'd rather use an advanced P&S that could sync at 1/1000th than a DSLR if I could find one good enough, but I don't do these enough to justify it, given I can add light easily enough.
- Yep use ISO50 if you can.
- I have a flash meter, I haven't seen it in a while though. Like I said, I just guess, but guesses get better with experience.

General method: Av mode at the aperture you think you need to set background exposure, tweak to get your histogram right. Add flash at the figure you guess, then adjust to get the histogram and preview looking right. Guess and check. KISS.

Anyone want to buy a light meter?

Im impressed with these things. They are allowing me to do things I could never do in the past. They make an AC9 and AC3 adapter that you can use and control the AB lights from the camera. I saw them demo's at WPPI and was pretty impressed as well. They would be great to use and I may get them. At this point whats another $150.00:eek::lol:

That AC9 is really tempting.
