Great Blue Heron

This is a first for me; I came across this guy by pure luck at out local pond, which is fairly small. Fist time ever I see a GBH here, first time actually I see one in a natural environment, and first shots ever.
The shot in flight was a rather panicky affair, as he took off by surprise while I was also eying a hawk hovering above us - overall, not so bad for a first time.

Nice captures in challenging lighting Gerard. You caught its pretty side in the first photo.

Nope, Canon 5D MKII and Sigma 150-500 DG OS HSM. :)
