I just got around to setting up the facebook publishing module. I really only use it to put up vacation pictures into my wife's profile.

The problem I an now having in LR4 is when i set it up I got to chose what album I wanted to sent images to..... But when I come back and want to up load top another album The drop down window is grayed out. I con no longer pick what album I want to up load to, or create a new one.

Anybody else run across this?

You know, the Lightroom/Facebook publish function is, well, funky. I started using it recently (LR3.6) and it keeps misbehaving. I don't know whether it's a problem with LR or with FB, but I guess having reliable InterWeb connections like that is, well, iffy. It seems that if there is any kind of problem LR quits trying.

facebook updated their photos feature in the last few weeks. This caused the lightroom app permissions to change. Log into facebook and go to your account settings. then look at your Lightroom app's privacy settings. LR gave me trouble for the last two weeks, then i checked the app settings. it appears that LR only allows one privacy setting for uploads, while recently facebook allows individual albums to have their own privacy setting. i finally got LR to allow me upload to existing albums but raising LR App's privacy setting to one level less secure than what i set for my albums. for example: if my album on fb is set to "friends", ill have to set the LR app setting to "friends of friends".

This doesnt mean that your photos or albums will have a less secure privacy setting when you upload. what ever you set your album to on facebook will be the privacy setting. but i guess when the app privacy settings is more secure than the actual album on FB, a conflict occurs. this worked for me, but not sure if this applicable to everyone. FB upload plugin breaks every few months. probably FB's fault, not adobe.

I really don't know my way around Facebook. What specifically do you need to do in Facebook, and how do you get to those settings?

Jeffrey Friedl has the best plugins for exporting from Lightroom.
I use them all.
You can try it for free for 30 days and then I think you only have to donate a penny (its been a while since I checked)
They work flawlessly.

I switched to Jeffrey Friedl's plugins also.
The drawback is that every time there is a big update you need to donate to re-register again

I have a few of Jefferys other plugins. Never bothered with the facebook one as I never had a problem with lightrooms version till now in LR4. I think I will abandon lightrooms and go with Jeff's.

Although probably long winded approach I have found it more reliable and somewhat easier to export pictures to a separate folder then use FB's own photo upload utilities. I think the OP issue is that for each different Album you want to import into you need to save a separate FB plugin setup else the plugin doesn't seem to allow a change of Album for a new set pictures and likewise is doesn't appear to allow for dynamically changing the album name when running a saved plugin. This functionality also appears to be the same with Flickr uploads so I don't think its a FB problem but by design of LR software.

This is at least what I have noticed using LR 3.6, it may be that I just haven't discovered the other methods for uploading yet....
