I see a lot of people on here that have a logo/watermark on their pics. Did you design your own in PS, or is there a cool program for something like that (some are pretty elaborate)? Also, do you have to add it to every picture, or is it somehow added when you upload them somewhere (like Flickr, for example)? Believe me, none of my pics need the watermark treatment yet, just wonderin'.

Thanks,

~Steve

I had my designer friend create mine as a PNG, which I then apply to all of my photos in Lightroom. Here's an example of it:

I use a batch that runs in cs3. When I re-size my pictures, I make them all the same size on the long side. I have a batch for all crop sizes, 2x3, 3x2, 4x5, 5x4, 5x7, 7x5. When I am done with my re-size, I run all the different crop sizes through cs3 and it puts my signature in the same spot in all my pictures, all at once. I do not have to do it for each picture.

But I am always looking for a better way... So I will keep looking at this post....

Just like this one.

I have presets in lightroom (10 total) depending on where I want it to be. Example below.

if you use lightroom, there is a preset option for watermarking when you export your photos. with photoshop, you can create an action that will automatically run when pressed. for more info on creating actions, there are several tutorials on youtube that will teach you dependent on your version.

if you use a standard font, set the opacity down a few notches so that it "marks" the image as opposed to having text sitting on top.

I don't watermark... The only reason I why I would is to get 'my name' out there.

I wrote my initials on a piece of paper with a thick Sharpee and scanned it, then added the copyright symbol. After I put it in the photo, I scale it and add a white outline.

I feel watermarks are not effective if they are not legable. If I was interested in buying that print, how would I know what to search for? I'm still not even certain I know what those letters are.

Can use Lightfoot alone. Cheaper upgrades also if you choose to keep it up to date and use an older Photoshop or Elements, versus updating Photoshop.

Photoshop is just easier for creating a PNG file if you want some fancy graphic as the watermark.

Lightroom can use any PNG file or you can type in text to generate a water mark. PNG is needed because of the inherent transparency support.
