Haven't had much time until now to get out to Jordan Lake, to try and find a good spot to hide and try to get some Eagle shots. Today was the day. The task was really to find an area with at least a couple of active Eagles. I tried a different area several weeks ago, but found nothing. Today was a success, even if I was way out of my focal range for the chance for some really great shots.

Here is a juve, whom I had previously scared out of a tree as I walked through the woods. He was no dummy, even being a juve. After he got out of sight, he waited 5 minutes.....and returned the the area to look for me. He flew right over the trail that follows the shoreline I was on.

This is one of the adults that was flying with a juve all around. It spotted me on the shore, in what I thought was a decent hiding spot. This adult did a loop, basically (what I think was) to confirm I wasn't a "normal" object on the shore. It quickly made a sharp cut and flew out of sight.

And again I was able to witness an Eagle trying to steal a fish from an Osprey. I did witness this last fall, and the Eagle was successful. It is still the most amazing thing I've witnessed in the wild. This time, the Osprey got away. Way out of my focal length with the 100-400L, but at least proof I witnessed it.

The capture of the juvie is very nice k-l!
I'm glad you found a way to sneak in a little bit. Sounds like your Eagles are not really habituated to humans. Maybe you can change that - ;)
It's always fun to watch to birds competing and I'm sure the Eagle/Osprey interaction was intense. Love the documentation image, but hoping like you are I'm sure to see it and capture it again.

Thanks! I know these aren't anything spectacular, but just feel accomplished to finally find some local to me.....that I can follow.

Congrats on the chase and the catches. That must have been quite a thrill watching the Eagle and the Osprey, sounds like it, nice set!

Very nice "first" eagle shots. You are so lucky to witness the eagle-osprey encounter, it takes patience to get your "dream" shot, but it will come to you just be patient :)

... does it really matter?i see with my eyes, i shoot with my fingers.
