Does the 60D benefit from 45mb/s SD cards? Or is 30mb/s sufficient?

I find the San Disk 30 mb/s more than adequate.

It would depend on how long you hold down the shutter button! If you take snapshots at your childs birthday party, 30mbs is fine; if you are shooting 6 frames a second at an auto race, you need a faster write speed.

The shot buffer fills itself, regardless of the speed of the memory (storage) card. Rob Galbraith conducts memory card speed tests, and the web site states that the 60D results will be published at the end of April.

Purchase this card Sandisk Extreme 45MB/Sec (external link) from Amazon(choose what size you want) I chose 32GB. Make sure to order directly from Amazon, LLC and not a third party vendor.

The one I received is Sandisk Extreme, like you linked to for the larger capacity cards. Note that Amazon finally updated the product listing page, but not the image(they show a HD Video extreme 30MB/Sec which is not accurate. The second picture shows what you will receive.

The HD Video Extreme's have all been updated to 45MB/Sec and some sellers haven't updated their listings yet.

I just did a buffer clear test this morning. Shooting raw, it will shoot at a consistent pace and then fire 1 last shot that is ever so slightly slower and then go to the slower pace once buffer is full.

From measuring the video I recorded with a stop watch I see the buffer clearing is in the 15/16 second range with the above mentioned card.
