My 300D is huge compared to my XT, but, I got the grip to make the XT larger.

I got stuff for taking pictures. :o When things are unclear - It's time to refocus.

Well, in some ways, count yourself lucky. Given the confusing help we offer anyone here, you're probably lucky as we dont comment on your lens selections.

Have fun with the camera and remember not to invest too much right now - you're not yet on Canon ;)

Hi Zrxpilot,

I am currently in the process of deciding between EOS 350D and D50.
Unfortunately Nikon do not allow non-owners to download manuals so I have not been able to study their offering in as much detail as the Canon. (Seems to me like a bad marketing move on Nikon's part).

Apologies all round for asking a Nikon question on this forum but registering on their site looked a bit daunting - too many questions.

How long can you hold the shutter button in "half pushed" state on the D50?

Welcome to the forum and you can stay, but you have to buy the D200 when it comes out, so you can tell me how you like it.;)

Sure. There's value in browsing POTN.

Even though I am an unabashed Canon fan (used to be Nikon yrs ago), I still go to Nikonians for macro tips and advice. Their sections on using Diopters, etc. is excellent.

Since your D-50 purchase was under budget, let me offer this:
If you photopgraph family, people, events, photo essays, then save up some money for a Nikon SB600 flash.
While Canon digital clearly has superior high ISO performance for low light photography, Nikon has always retained superior fill-flash metering.
With your D-50, you will want to avoid going above ISO 400-800 regularly. Thus, the perfect entry to get into flash photography, with the Nikon, which does it better.
Enjoy.

Oh, that's not hard. Look at the model Canon just discontinued. That's what Nikon will be producing next - only in APS-C 1.5x crop.

Correct me if im wrong, but I'm quite sure the 350D has korean, unfortunately i cant be positive since under the language menu it displays the names in their native language and alphabet. but there are 4 "oriental" (sorry if that comes off rude) languages, im assuming one is chinese, another is japanese, and I would bet that one of the other two is korean.

Actually to be technical, Koreans and Japanese are taught to read Chinese written language along with their native written language. I on occassion watch Korean and Japanese videos and they use Chinese written language.

It's interesting that the D50 is apparently much cheaper than the 300D .
I've noticed that the local shops have pentax DSLR's cheaper than canon as well.

While it's all getting stillted now with canon's rebates,it's still amazing that the others can compete so well with the supposedly lower priced CMOS sensor.
