Ok, when I open an image in Photoshop cs2, the window that contains the image is always small, i have to resize it every time. see pic below

IMAGE NOT FOUND
HTTP response: 404 | MIME changed to 'image/gif' | Byte size: ZERO | PHOTOBUCKET ERROR IMAGE

Is there anyway to set photoshop to open the image with a larger window by defualt, like this pic

double-click on the hand tool... or even better, hit the f key to switch to full screen mode. Then you can use the spacebar to quickly move the image around.
double-click the zoom tool for 100%

Thanks, That makes life a bit easier. I still wish there was a way to get it to open to the size you want by default though. Sure would be nice.

From what I can tell, PS likes to zoom to certain sizes - ones that look better because of it's anti-aliasing for the resize. So the common default zooms will be based on 33% - like 66.7 % or 16.7% - or based on 50% - like 25% or 12.5%. I've never seen - or maybe just never noticed - if it will default to something like 20.2%.

You can take my 100-400 L away when you pry it from my cold, dead fingers.

You're right Scottes, that's why it usually doesn't fill the screen with the image.
That's why I like working in full screen mode {F} and usually view at 100%. Then I may flip to fit to screen (double-click hand) just to check an edit on the overall image or get bearings.

Ctrl-Alt-0 : 100%
Ctrl-0 : Fit in window
Ctrl +/- : Zoom in and out
I find that I do a fast Ctrl-0 to get a big window, then zoom in or out to one of the 25/50/100 sizes. I find the aliasing annoying even at the 1/3 increments. Am I missing a setting? RAitch's F toggle works great too.

This doesn't answers your question but it might help. If you have a wheel mouse then.....
Do EDIT/PREFERENCES/GENERAL and check the " Zoom with scroll wheel" box.
Now you can zoom in and out using the wheel on the mouse. :)

Yes it does, lol.

For what they charge for this program you would think a simple preference like mine would be able to be set, lol. off to the adobe forum for a feature request, lol.

Yet simply clicking a button or pressing a key isn't easy enough?
I never found it a problem and actually prefer that the images are loaded in a friendly zoom factor.

Nah, double clicking the zoom is doing the trick for me, Thanks for the tip. Its just that I am used to being able to set such options. most any other image program I have used, you can set the default opening size. I really don't care what the zoom level on the actual pic is when it opens, because I just zoom to what I want with the scroll wheel. But I wish the window would open sized the way I want it. When I asked the original question, I just figured I was missing a setting for it somewhere. Again thanks for the tips guys!
