7D focus, what the heck.

It all depends on your technique and the subject.

If you can hand hold 200mm at 1/100th steady then go for it.

It wont work for say small birds more often than not etc, and your keeper rate will be lower is all

I tend to start at 1/ 2 * focal length (so 1/400th for 200mm) and work in from there.

Good rule of thumb Rob, especially for the latest 18mpx crop bodies, and especially simple to remember.

lol, thanks I will keep that rule close...FTR I do NOT have steady hands (far to much caffeine in this dude), so I am listening with wide open ears when it comes to improving my handheld sharpness.

1/focal length isnt enough typicaly for 1.6 crop 18mp !
