Ok so for now.. i told my wife i want to take my hobby to the next level.. since i have been taking pics of our kids at hockey.. so many people complain how their iphone or p&s doesnt get good pics..so since we won our championship... i handed out a cd with all of the pics I took (dont yell at me i know i gave away free product).. however it has an upside... I also gave the coach and assistant coaches a photobook... they love it... they pulled me aside and asked if I wanted to do fundraisers, other stuff.. can setup a boot for free, etc.. they just of course want a kick back.. so im liking this.. already played with zenfolio and all...

so with the equipment i have listed in my sig. i need a bit more.. i know... but one thing I noticed, the pics I took of our kids in the rink holding the trophy... no flash.. 50 f1.8 @1.8.. pics are mehhh ok.. everyone else is awwed as their iphone pics are noisy...

so what im thinking is this... if I use the 50 f1.8 @ 2.2 or 2.8.. but would then need to setup flashes.. i would have my wife on one side and son on other...

so i have a yn-468 ettl flash... 2x rf-603 triggers... that would get me to have my son hold one setup and fire the flash... but question coming...

would i be better getting another yn-468 or just get a cheaper YN slave only flash and more rf-603's?

my ideal setup is 2 monopods... a flash on each... with bounce flash forward....
so just trying to figure if 460 flashes are the route.. as they are slave only.. or go yn-565 and external power source....

i know funding.. i havent said anything... want to keep it cheap until the business gets started and some funds come in so want something that works... hence why i threw out cheap 460's or more expensive 565's....

appreciate your feedback on this... heck.. if i get 2 flashes for left and right.. maybe still use flash on camera too? or that maybe overkill....

i dont want to tote umbrellas and all that out there.. if this works for me.. i will have 5-10 minutes max to setup, take pics and move as there will be 2 more championship games (different divisions...)

If its a remote flash then wouldn't you WANT to run on full manual mode anyways? (just asking) I just picked up a second YN-560. Which works very well for remote flashes.

I would pick up 6 of these flashes because they are super cheap and strong but I am also using Bowens remote radio triggers which are pretty expensive so I just have the two YN flashes for remote and a Canon 580EX II for my on camera flash pictures for now.

that is my point.. cheap and to the point on its uses... i just know the 565 has the external power source option.. making recharge quicker and longer last on batteries???

so basically guess i was asking if people agree with my thoughts (cant ask wife as she can tell me on anything else if im thinking out of the box  )

If you are using RF-603 triggers you are firing the flashes in manual mode.
That being the case, get YN-560s. They are inexpensive and offer option for external battery pack which is helpful for recycle.
For the kind of shots you are doing, keep the flashes above the camera on either side either firing direct or through umbrellas.

I agree, for your situation manual flashes are better (and cheaper)
