Is This Worth $1500?

Astrophotography fans can rejoice: The Canon EOS 60Da, a new, specialized version of the Canon EOS-60D that has been optimized for astrophotography, has landed.

The first astrophotography-specialized DSLR since the 2004-vintage Canon EOS 20Da, the 60Da shares most of the features of the 60D, but with one key differences that will put a smile on any stargazer's face.

Thanks for posting this. Sounds like it would be worth the money if you are interested in a body built for astro work only. I've yet to modify any of my older DSLRs for this purpose. My unmodified 20D has served me well over the years. With a good understanding of post processing a lot of red can be revealed from the RAW data collected with a stock DSLR.

I always liked the idea of using a 60/600 for astrophotography for the swivel screen! But shurely you could buy a normal 60d and get it modded for cheaper than this?

Good point there....have to look into this more closely....

An after-market mod will void the warranty, though. To me, it's probably worth the cost not to void the warranty, and probably not change the white balance so much.
